UN Initiatives Support Flood Recovery in Pakistan's Hunza Valley

Editorial Staff · 1 min read

On July 6, 2025, a glacier lake outburst flood struck the village of Hassanabad in Pakistan's Hunza Valley, leading to significant destruction.

The flood, caused by the rapid melting of the Shisper Glacier, resulted in the loss of homes and damage to irrigation systems.

In response, the UN has initiated recovery efforts aimed at helping the affected residents rebuild their lives and restore essential services.
