First Anatomical Mapping of Yellow Mealworms Reveals Nutritional Potential

Editorial Staff · 1 min read

Recent anatomical mapping of the yellow mealworm beetle's larvae, known scientifically as Tenebrio molitor, has highlighted their nutritional value, which is comparable to that of beef or poultry.

These mealworms have been approved for human consumption in Europe, presenting a sustainable alternative to conventional meat sources.

With a much smaller ecological footprint than traditional livestock, yellow mealworms could play a role in addressing food sustainability challenges.
